6 & 7 April:
Trust House Wairarapa 4 Hole Open Wrap Up & Results
Over the weekend the 2019 Trust House Wairarapa Open was held. A field of 64 golfers took part in cold conditions with the course playing into a southerly breeze.
After day 1 Carl Tupangaia from BFHGC had the lead at 6 under after a bogey free 67 on Saturday afternoon, Trey Shedlock was two shots back at 4 under and Tyler Wood another two shots back at 2 under.
The Sunday morning tee time was moved forwards an hour to avoid heavy rain forecast for Sunday afternoon. This allowed players to get around without getting saturated. In calm cool conditions Tyler Wood came home with a 9 under round of 62 that included 3 eagles, 6 birdies and 3 bogeys.
With the other leaders falling away Tyler Wood went on to win the Wairarapa Open finishing with an 11 under total. Josef Edge was second with a total of 5 under after finishing with a 3rd round 65.
Erika Cui won the Ladies competition and Masterton local Jamie Frew won the Intermediate Cup with a final round of 76. Ray Verhaart won the Intermediate B division.
With much thanks to Trust House for their generous sponsorship of this year’s tournament.
