The 2018 Trust House Wairarapa Open was held at the Masterton Golf Club over the weekend of April 7 & 8. The event was held over 54 holes with 36 holes being played on Saturday and the last 18 on Sunday.
The Senior Section came down to the last hole where Masterton local Sam Forrester held his nerve to win his very first Wairarapa Open in his 17th try, one shot ahead of Jonno Cane (Manor Park). Sam was “absolutely stoked” to win his first open and continues a good run for local players in the event with the last 3 champions all being from Masterton.
Jack Francis from BFHGC claimed the Intermediate Section of the event carding a 76 off his 11 handicap in the final round to edge Masterton Board Chairman Rob Blackett by 3 shots.
Erika Cui of BFHGC won the Ladies Gross Section convincingly and Cheycoda Cocks (Mahunga) won the Ladies Nett.
